Summary:
- April 2009 saw the release of the last two community editions (KDE and Fluxbox) which had been released as RCs the month before and the jump made by the development team from Linux Mint 6 to Linux Mint 7.
- Although the growth observed in April was only between 1 and 4%, last month was the best month ever for Linux Mint since the start of the project.
Cool, the cross-release stats are particularly interesting: Almost as many people are on the bleeding edge as are on the stable LTS (Though I suppose it’s likely a lot of people are trying it out while still using felicia most of the time) I assume these stats are from the firefox home page hits or something.
I think the distrowatch ranking is a bit of an odd one to have in the monthly stats, as it’s based off the last 6 months, perhaps it would be more useful to use the last 30days figure, which fluctuates a lot more.
Do the forum search queries include the “View your posts” and “View new posts” options, because I would be artificially inflating these figures a lot recently 😉
Looking forward to jaunty & gloria to fix the shitty intel gma video card drivers…
Tengo varios años usándolo y me gusta mucho.
En caso de que ya tengas una cuenta de PayPal, solo haz la donación a root@linuxmint.com
SALUDOS!
hi
i’ve come across linux mint only very recently, and like it a lot. just multi-partitioned a desktop i built recently exclusively for different linux os’s and plan to install linux mint 7 as one of 5 or 6 distros on the 500gb sata. mint 7 will be the third install, hopefully very soon.
might point out that newest knoppix live-cd 6.01 has a great print-to-voice feature (not sure if it’s festival, which is on the debian repository) which for some strange reason has not yet become a new linux distro must right at start-up. maybe mint will change that sometime soon, as it is a great eye-saver for anyone using their computer more than 2 or 3 hours a day.
i firmly believe in supporting oss, so my checque to you will be forthcoming as soon as i have your mailing address.
thanks for your committment, hard work and dedication. could you tell new users who is on your development team, a bit of their background and how long they’ve been involved with linux development?
best,
janb/canada
That site is wonderful for home linux users and i wanna donate for ur development..
