The BETA phase for Linux Mint 22.1 is now over. 115 reports were received and many bugs were fixed. Many thanks for your help during this beta-test!
After a few days of QA testing we’ll be ready to publish the stable release. The new features will then make their way towards LMDE and we’ll open up the upgrade path for Linux Mint 22.

Linux Mint is the best distribution.
I’ve been using it for years and I think it’s excellent!
I started using Linux Mint in 2010 and haven’t looked back since. I’ve tested loads of other distros and always come home to Mint! I already know I won’t be disappointed by 22.1!

I agree that Mint is a very good distro but I moved over to LMDE some time ago, a decision that I do not regret.

You can get the newest features of Cinnamon 6.4 Desktop Environment soon on LMDE 6 after the release of Linux Mint 22.1 like this is case https://linuxiac.com/cinnamon-6-2-landed-in-lmde-6/
Hopefully, you will remember to inclued OEM functionality in next LMDE release. Using OEM really makes it nice for building a Linux Mint box for newcomers to Linux.

If we already have 22.1 beta installed will it update automatically, or will we have to do a fresh install.

You won’t need to do a fresh install. The Update Manager will bring the existing installation up to date.
You can update through mintUpdate. No need to reinstall. However the update feature usually aren’t available right away, but probably will in a few days.
I just applied the new updates to LMDE6, bringing Cinnamon up to 6.2.9. I haven’t experimented with any of the new features yet, but did open a few programs to ensure basic functionality. I took a quick look at the available themes, whose colors seem a bit more saturated than before — very attractive.
The updates installed in about a minute without any problem. The desktop looks as it did before, as expected.

I did notice that when I try to adjust my monitor settings using the menu provided by the monitor (hp 22cwa), I can’t make selections. Neither the keyboard arrow keys nor the mouse work. When I try to move the pointer into the monitor’s menu, the pointer vanishes, appearing to go behind the monitor menu. If I move it away, the pointer comes back.
I think Cinnamon 6.4 is still to released, at least for LMDE6.

Thank You for all your hard work over the last twelve months of Mint development.
I am planning to finally ditch Windows later in the year when support for windows10 comes to an end in October and will be wiping the system (complete system rebuild) and installing MINT.
I might be rather biased here but I think MINT knocks the socks off Windows by miles.
I switched to Linux in 2018 and thought: Linux Mint seems great, but maybe I’ll try another distro once I have to reinstall the system. Well, LM has been running flawlessly ever since and there never was a need to reinstall anything. So I guess I’ll stick to it forever.
