Events:

Summary:

  • We had three releases in February, but it’s within the team and the project that things changed a lot. We now have Ikey Doherty working full time for us, and we signed a very important partnership with eUKhost.
  • The partnership allowed us to migrate our forums and community website to a 16GB RAM server. We’re planning to migrate the main website this week. These migrations make our websites more responsive and more reliable, and they also free other servers for development and testing.
  • Ikey focused on triaging the bugs on Launchpad and reduced the number of “new” bugs from 450 to 0. Bugs will be processed on a daily basis to keep this number as low as possible and behind the triaging, we’ll implement and release fixes often as well to reduce the number of overall “open” bugs.
  • Development is ongoing on Linux Mint 11, and an upcoming switch to LMDE for the Fluxbox edition.
  • Our monthly stats (donations, sponsorships, traffic, advertising) seem low when compared to other months. Considering February comes with only 28 days and looking at our average daily income, we’re actually up 2.2% and doing better than ever before. Once more we’re happy to report that last month was our best month since the foundation of the project.

  • x86 processor (Linux Mint 64-bit requires a 64-bit processor. Linux Mint 32-bit works on both 32-bit and 64-bit processors).
  • 512 MB RAM (1GB recommended for a comfortable usage).
  • 5 GB of disk space
  • Graphics card capable of 800×600 resolution
  • DVD-ROM drive or USB port

Upgrade instructions:

  • To upgrade from a previous version of Linux Mint follow these instructions.
  • To upgrade from Linux Mint 10 KDE RC, simply apply any level 1 and 2 updates (if any) available in the Update Manager.
