Correction: The Seagate Knowledge Base article states the drives in question were “manufactured through December 2008”, as in until the end of December 2008.
My drives were bought in August 2008 but have an affected firmware version.
The Phishing scam is nothing to fear quite yet but enough to warn my wife who is a more casual surfer and internat bank user. Thanks for the info.
