Due to a power outage in one of our datacenters, two of our servers went down:
- packages.linuxmint.com (the main repository)
- debian.linuxmint.com (the LMDE repository)
The situation was not critical, since both of these repositories are mirrored (http://www.linuxmint.com/mirrors.php), but the downtime lasted approximately 8 hours.
The situation seems to be completely resolved now and both servers are back online and fully operational.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, the lack of communication and the time it took to solve this issue.
Hi Clem,
It would be nice to have a +1 button for Google+. And also I’ll be interestend in following you on Google+.
Thanks for coming up π also,
Edmond.
Edit by Clem: Hi, sorry Edmond, we don’t use and certainly don’t promote Google+.
I thought it was my internet. π
Thanks for fixing it. π
Thanks for getting the servers back up Clem. I figured it was something like that when Mint 15’s updater couldn’t download the updates.
Problem with idrepo.or.id and kambing.ui.ac.id
Big problem since downloading 15: both monitors show same; BIOS: Advanced: NB config. IGFX multi – monitor enabled
does anyone have an idea or suggestion?
Clem: “Hi, sorry Edmond, we donβt use and certainly donβt promote Google+.”
Ah, a voice of reason! π
apologies accepted π
No problem now that we have linux mint 15 kde rc to thinker with!
Thanks!
No Problem at all Clem. I also accept your apologies and perhaps you should care, that your electricity-companies will care for better service! These companies already earn enough, so you should not accept the apologies from them but making them a bit more stress in this point to stregthen their electricity-networks!! π
I will do my updates later and I also read already about the new name of LinuxMint 16 Petra (@ Clem: did you know, that Petra is also a place in egypt with graves of former ancient Pharaos?? π Just to give you a bit more History-Background).
I am looking forward to LinuxMint 16.
One question regarding the current version LinuxMint 15: will it also receive an XFCE-Version besides the MATE-Version?? And could it be made, that Compiz and Emerald-Thememanager also work with Cinnamon-Desktop??
And one point for the Wishlist: couldn’t we take over this nice gtk-Theme from MATE-Desktop also for the Cinnamon-Desktop as default-theme?? It looks pleasing. π
I wish you Clem and your whole dev-team a pleasant weekend.
Greetings from your member
Mintkatze

No, just childish behaviour. π
Edmond!

8 hours down time due to power outage? Did the run out of fuel for their diesel generators?
Edit by Clem: We’ve been with them for a long time now and appart from this single incident we’ve had no reason to complain. Players had to wait 90 minutes to get back to the pitch during the Superbowl.. sometimes things happen, the guys in Denver do a great job and we’re really happy with them. We didn’t feel the need to ask them if they ran out of fuel, no π
