Events:

Summary:

  • All the new features and improvements released in Linux Mint 11 were made available to LMDE. Firefox 5 was also released for LMDE and Thunderbird 5 will follow. We’re currently working on a new update mechanism and a fork of mintupdate dedicated to Debian. A new 100Gbps server was recently acquired to host what will become the new LMDE repositories. Improvements are also planned on the installer and the ISOs will get a respin in July.
  • To face the growth of the project and the increase in our user base, we migrated both the website and the repositories at the beginning of June. The website was moved on our eUKhost server in the UK and the repositories were migrated to a new 100Mbps server with unmetered bandwidth. Both services have been running really well since and with much better performance than before.
  • The LXDE edition passed QA and an RC was released.
  • We’re currently testing the KDE edition of Linux Mint 11.
  • Thanks to all the people who purchased a Linux Mint T-shirt. I hope they enjoy it as much as I do (I got two polo shirts myself and as you can imagine, I really enjoy wearing them). Whether it’s the promotion or the sales, it’s nice to see it happen and this helps Linux Mint. Our partner HELLOTUX sold more than 100 black Linux Mint t-shirts. This was an excellent result and these sales brought $545 to our project. To extend the range of Linux Mint products, both the T-shirt and the Polo shirt are now also available in White: http://www.hellotux.com/Category_Linux_Mint.php
  • In partnership with OxyPress, Linux Mint is  publishing a printed magazine in the USA called “Linux Mint 11 Identity Kit”. The magazine is available in newsagents throughout the country. You can also get more information about it online and read one of the articles featured inside it by visiting the following link http://www.linuxidentity.com/us/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=5055
  • There is a significant raise in our user base which is estimated at just below 10% this month.
  • From a financial point of view, we’re up 19% this month. This was the second biggest increase in the history of the project! I’d like to thank all the people who donated to us, our sponsors, and all the people who recently switched to Linux Mint. This gives us more empowerment and makes everything much easier. Whether it’s contracting some work to be done, paying the bills or getting this new 1Gbps server, your support helps us greatly.

  1. Great Job Clem. Increase in revenues by 19% is a very good sign that LM is rocking. Keep up the spirit. I’ve been away from LM since Katya as I didn’t like the UI. But my best wishes will always be with you and your awesome team.

    Happy Independence Day!

  2. “A new 100Gbps server was recently acquired to host what will become the new LMDE repositories. ”
    Sounds interesting! Congratulations in advance.

  3. GLAD to see the projects going on!

I will wait to the LMDE ISOs respin. The 201012 64-bit original LMDE ISO was unable to properly recognize my video board (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6310, it was using 1024×768 resolution until I got the drivers), and I got no touchpad and no audio. Since Mint 11 was able to properly recognize all the hardware (audio, video, touchpad etc) I belive the ISO respin will solve these questions.

Clem, I *really* thank you for all your efforts from you and the Team.

    Keep up the REMARKABLE WORK!

    Yours truly,

    Mauricio Camara.

  4. Keep Rocking Mint! I’m installing Mint 11 on my Father in law’s laptop today! Linux mint has been spreading and growing, and I’m doing my part by installing it everywhere I can. Great job team! I’ll be ordering a T shirt soon!

  5. Very glad to hear the news about LMDE and the new hosts (as well as the rest). Looking forward to the respin. The hard work and effort is highly appreciated, no doubt about that. Brought in a couple more Windows converts last month and have another one in the works.

If I win the local lottery I’ll gladly send you a few thousand right off. If I win the multi-state lottery I’ll throw you a million or so. 😀

  6. I too ordered my T-shirt, is nice and good quality material, the white one should be much better to wear on hot summer days, the black it feels to hot for me. I’m waiting for LM KDE 11 to be released, I know Boo is working very hard on it and I’m confident it will be a great release.

    Just keep the good work

  7. If you fix it the problem with LinuxMint 9-11 (black screen after the menu en liveCD) with some Video Card of nVidia (in Linux Mint 8 works) I promise you make my first little donation. XD

  8. LinuxMint is number 1 in ranking

Mint is on the right path as I was looking at the stats from the

The last 3 months report from Distrowatch

    1 Mint 2361<
    2 Ubuntu 2316<

    Great job Clem

Thanks for all the hard work

  9. Problems with Mint 11 and Ubuntu are the same. On my Laptop I have to go into the bios and select the onboard video card before I can boot into Mint 11 or Ubuntu 11.04
