wow 😀 excelente trabajo Kendall. Veo que ya es una versión estable.

Linux Mint 9 LXDE released! (non RC)

  2. PsynoKhi0 says:

Downloading through torrent… Speedy, easy on resources, LTS, mono free (?)… What’s more to ask, looks like we have a winner here 😀

  3. joe says:

it is a winner but with 192 ram if you have no video ram you need to make your page file 98

  4. joe says:

best for low ram low video computers and does more then gnome in some ways

  5. nobodyin says:

I hate to be a spoiler but my firefox freezes at random times for no reason. This does not happen on the GNOME version.

  6. Fnx says:

    Thank you for the release!

When is the release for Linux Mint KDE? I prefer KDE.

sorry for my English, it isn’t good.

  7. hinto says:

  8. poltiser says:

    What about AMD64 version?

  9. Brian Wayne says:

Thanks for the hard work! My Pentium II IBM 600E runs pretty fast (that sounds like a joke for a Pentium II machine, but it is good for me for basic computing needs). Keep up the good work!

  10. elsabarto says:

    Thank you Clem

  11. badcam says:

How easy is it to run this just in Ram? 🙂

  12. Henry says:

Nice, but I like the Mint Menu too much to use it instead of gnome.

  13. RO says:

Is there a problem with installing to a flash drive with unetbootin 471? I have tried installing the iso to 2 different flash drives now, and after the initial menu and the 5 dots that “cycle” it seems to do nothing for some minutes (when the cycling dots disappear). This is on a Fujitsu Lifebook P5020 with 1 GB RAM. It has booted dozens of different Linux distros from USB flash drives. The downloaded ISO file works fine with VirtualBox.

  14. Krishna says:

Great! How do I upgrade from the release version?

  15. Tony says:

Upgrade from RC. Hi many thanks for this, will software updates upgrade the Release candidate to the full version?

  16. merlwiz79 says:

You can see the releases being tested.
Once it’s been approved it can take 2 or more days to release.

  17. OS2-User says:

Is the in Lucid/Isadora so dreadfully broken Ralink WiFi driver RT2970.sta fixed in this latest release, so that wireless Internet access is finally possible again?

  18. jazzi says:

Congratulations! I installed LXDE on my Ubuntu but seems there was no big improvement. I’ll try this distribution.
    Does the wireless work well?

  19. Yupy says:

Thank’s you guyz very much, i’m a Linux Mint fan since Mint 5, and i love it… Thanks again

  20. shane says:

Congrats Kendall! Great work on this release!

  21. mohaned_nj says:

ill try it now for my old computer,
Q: can i install gnome on it easily?

  22. mohaned_nj says:

i forget, dose it support Arabic well?, because LXDE as i know is not that good in arabic!.

  23. olligod says:

Why would you want to install Gnome on LXDE-system?

Use the original, best-supported Mint/Gnome that was released 6 weeks or so ago. There you have Gnome in the best Mint-quality and best integration.

  24. Aggar says:

Is the ugly splashscreen after GPU driver install fixed in this release?

  25. Joe H (JoeFootball) says:

Slick! Congratulations to Kendall & the entire dev team!

  26. thor says:

why are not a iso, AMD64 version ??

  27. Atle says:

How low in ram can this distro go?

    What about 128?

  28. kkoceski says:

    Linux Mint 9 Shutdown issue
Does anybody know why my GX100 won’t shut down completely. This is happening with this new LXDE as well as the original Gnome. It happens on several of the other new distros also (Kahel for one). In this LM-9-LXDE recent case, I can get the CD to boot into Live-Mode, where I poke around just a little. Then when I try to shut down, it works on it a little, but then just stops, with everything still powered-up, and 2 lights on the keyboard flashing, but unresponsive to any level of keyboard-pounding. The same thing happened with LM-9-Gnome, even after I installed it to hard-drive.
    Thanks – Kurt

  29. ehhh says:

how to update from RC ?

  30. eagjoeli says:

Good work. Installed on Acer 1410 11.6″, takes 25-30 second to boot, pretty fast

  31. Nickynak says:

Downloaded and using since yesterday, really superb effort and best Mint variant until the Debian one arrives soon, nice work Kendall and the development team.

  32. guan says:

    thats great news!
(how many days or weeks i was looking for this release… *g*)

    thx guys! 🙂

  33. escortgoj says:

    A realy nice release….everything’s running smoothly…I did a fool install in 20 mins on a ThinkPad 600x(pentium II & 192 RAM)….a resurrection 😉

  34. dude says:

  35. leodelacruz says:

Gracias amigo voy a provar esta version debe ser muy veloz!

  36. Mauricio Camara says:

“Patience is the mother of all virtues”.

Instead of quickly releasing some buggy distro, the team prefer to improve and to solve several issues *before* launching, AGAIN, an remarkable distribution!

    It was worth waiting. Definitely.

Keep up the good work, guys!

  37. ardhi says:

    Awesome !!! Downloading now … \(^.^)/

  38. Imhoteps says:

Thank you very much Kendall and team!
    Liels paldies!
    Огромное спасибо всей команде!

  39. says:

the another great release of linux mint. Already downloading…will try soon…thanks

  40. Matt says:

Is GMA500 supported natively or is there a long work around like there is on ubuntu?

  41. Luis says:

Great look and package – But I am having problems keeping my wireless connection going at home and work, something that does not happen with other LXDE distributions. The reason I would like this to work for me is because I am very impressed with the packages available in the repos and the community support, but if wireless is unreliable I will have to move back to the “radically simple” distro.

  42. Randy says:

I must be getting behind on my Linux news, but what is LXDE. I’ll have to do some research into that. Is it a fork of XFCE?

  43. 7ka says:

WOW! 😀 please give a reference to the x64 bit version!&

  44. HarleyRider1958 says:

At last a LXDE LTS distro. The beauty of it is it is Mint, which is becoming my favorite distro with each passing day. This is a winner in my eyes. It’s fast, easy to use, and full of features. I love it!
Look for a contribution as soon as I get my Social Security money around the end of the month. I will support Mint 9 LXDE with contributions as I can afford it to show my appreciation and gratitude.

  45. Santiago says:

buen trabajo, lo termine de bajar y lo instale esta excelente.

  46. Roster Number Sixty says:

  47. GOOD says:

  48. Lisa says:

    Why no AMD64 version?

  49. joe says:

    doesnt work with nvidia drivers

  50. 小小小俗辣 says:

If I have already installed LXDE RC VER in the computer, do i need to fresh install? LXDE VER. is better than gnome, i like its simple and more fast

  51. Roberto says:

    Great Work Kendall
    Keep up the good work
Also wishing lucky for “Peppermint Linux”

    What is up? Why?
Can anyone explain it to me?

Linux Mint 9 Gnome “Isadora” 32bit (laptop)

The web browser firefox when updated to a new version,
it changes my startup page (front page) and automatically
the browser goes to web site and make that website
as my default start page. I think Mozilla could not do
that without my permission. Intrusion, may i say that? Or
something wrong with the Mint Firefox 32bit re-branded?

This event has already happened twice.

    Amd64 computer
For my Gnome 9 “Isadora” – x64 bit Gnome and KDE
firefox doesn’t change my startup Mint page (front page).

I did not check yet whether it happens with Lxde 9 Edition.
32bit because the other lap is with my sister. Anyone can check
    it out please?

    32bit LM 9 “Isadora”
To fix it: – firefox > edit > preferences > general > modify the
    front page to (

My old Dell Inspiron 8000 with 500Mb RAM and Pentium III CPU has never run as well or looked as good as with Linux Mint 9 LXDE. I downloaded the correct Nvidia driver and the video performance is superb with the built-in VLC software.

I was using Puppy 5.01, which is an amazing distro, but Mint LXDE is sheer luxury and pretty much as fast!

A great achievement by the Linux Mint 9 LXDE team!

  53. Ikem says:

It’s my favorite version of Linux Mint.

  54. vic says:

    so far so good
    minimal use of resources….liked
    no network manager?…still looking

  55. christian says:

what is the difference between all these? (Linux Mint Xfce, Linux Mint LXDE, Linux Mint KDE RC, and Linux Mint 9)

  56. Andy says:

Nice! It works fast on my old PC, GIMP and VLC included, the printer is recognized, the internet connection is OK!
    I’m happy! ^_^

  57. Lee says:

Great, but I can’t switch until a mintmenu lxpanel plugin gets written to replace that deplorable default menu. Somehow it reminds me of windows 3.0.

  61. susheel says:

This is by far the best Linux distro I have used. I hate unnecessary eye-candy; and LXDE is prefect for my taste. Mint LXDE is probably the best looking LXDE distro there is right now. I use a pretty beefy machine, but I still like a very lightweight distro like Mint LXDE.

Great work guys! Keep it up!
