Linux Mint 16 will be named “Petra” and should be available at the end of November 2013.

Petra, “πέτρα” in Greek, means stone or rock. It is a common name in Germany, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Linux Mint 16 “Petra” will feature the following editions:

  • Cinnamon
  • MATE
  • KDE
  • Xfce

Due to a power outage in one of our datacenters, two of our servers went down:

  • packages.linuxmint.com (the main repository)
  • debian.linuxmint.com (the LMDE repository)

The situation was not critical, since both of these repositories are mirrored (http://www.linuxmint.com/mirrors.php), but the downtime lasted approximately 8 hours.

The situation seems to be completely resolved now and both servers are back online and fully operational.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, the lack of communication and the time it took to solve this issue.
