{"id":4320,"date":"2022-05-08T17:32:32","date_gmt":"2022-05-08T16:32:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.linuxmint.com\/?p=4320"},"modified":"2022-05-08T17:32:32","modified_gmt":"2022-05-08T16:32:32","slug":"how-to-upgrade-to-lmde-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.linuxmint.com\/?p=4320","title":{"rendered":"How to upgrade to LMDE 5"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is now possible to upgrade LMDE 4 to version 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, refresh your cache and install the Upgrade Tool by typing the following commands in a terminal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>apt update\napt install mintupgrade<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then type the following command to launch the Upgrade Tool:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>sudo mintupgrade<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.linuxmint.com\/upload\/2022\/04\/mintupgrade-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.linuxmint.com\/upload\/2022\/04\/mintupgrade-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4313\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Follow the instructions on the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the tool is done and the upgrade is successful uninstall it and reboot your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>apt remove mintupgrade\nsudo reboot<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a major upgrade. It can take several hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will be asked to be up to date and to prepare system snapshots.
