Make sure your mirror is up-to-date<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is not safe to upgrade any package unless your mirror points to UP6<\/p>\n<p>Here is the current status of the LMDE mirrors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UP6:\n<ul>\n<li>http:\/\/debian.linuxmint.com\/<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/mirror.rts-informatique.fr\/linuxmint\/debian\/<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/debian.lth.se\/lmde\/<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/www.mirrorservice.org\/sites\/debian.linuxmint.com\/debian\/<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/lmde-mirror.gwendallebihan.net\/<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/lmde-mirror-fr-1.wedrop.it\/<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/tux.rainside.sk\/mint\/debian\/<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/mirror.internode.on.net\/pub\/linuxmint-debian\/<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/mirror.metrocast.net\/linuxmint-debian\/<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To select another mirror:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure &#8220;mint-debian-mirrors&#8221; is installed<\/li>\n<li>Open a terminal and run the following command: mint-choose-debian-mirror<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Check your APT sources<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the Update Manager, click on the \u201cUpdate Pack Info\u201d button<\/li>\n<li>Make sure \u201cYour system configuration\u201d shows up as green and doesn\u2019t show any warnings or errors.<\/li>\n<li>If you see a warning or an error, follow the instructions given and repeat the process until they\u2019re gone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>3. Read about the Update Pack<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cUpdate Pack Info\u201d window of the Update Manager, make sure to read all the information related to Update Pack 6. Some of it might be irrelevant to you, but it will only take you a minute and it might save you hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Upgrade the packages<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re ready and you know all that there is to know, press the \u201cInstall Updates\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p>During the update you\u2019ll be asked a few things. One is quite important.. the new kernel will ask you where to install Grub.
