mintUpdate 1.1 was released for the Community to test and give early feedback to the developer team.

This version contains all the important features needed for the system to provide automatic security updates.

mintUpdate will be ready for Mint 4.0 Daryna. The diagnostic features of the tool are already working and the team is currently implementing the preferences box. Only the upgrade mechanism based on APT remains. Here are two screenshots of what the current mintUpdate looks like:

The end of this year is going to be fun. With SUSE releasing 10.3 in only 3 days and Mandriva 2008 scheduled for the day after we’ll be busy looking at the improvements and ideas from these distributions and eventually changing the features planned for Mint 4.0.

On  the 18th of October Ubuntu 7.10 will come out and as mintUpdate is now 75% finished and KDE/XFCE editions might skip Celena, Daryna BETA releases should follow shortly.

Also, Fedora 8.0 is planned for the 11th of November.
