  1. Nice newsletter, the comics are always really funny 🙂 Should we rename the “trivia and other links” section to “comic of week” though? And put a little note under it to give credit to xkcd.com?

  2. well,
i don’t know much about the new Windows 7 but i can tell you this in africa, the quick change from Xp to Vista is still having a fast negative effects on 85% of users, WHY, they’ve been used to Xp that bring another operating systems like Vista or worst still W7 makes …..

    you do the imagination

  3. I am new to Linux. Got your 4 going but was told that 6-main was way better. I tried downloading 6 but after 5 tries anf all no-goes I ordered your CD for 6-main. I started with 2 SCSI hd’s ( 0 = Win 2000 and 2 = your 6-main ) and it loaded OK but after install then restart install then a restart your program hung. Tried that 4 times. Then after formating drive 2 and turning off drive 0 I loaded 6-main with no Win 2000 present. It was a repeat. Lastly, I turned off the SCSI and pluged in the SATA drive that had Win 2000 set-up in place then loaded 6-main and it was a repeat.

    I am open for suggestions.

  4. BCK: Did you try the compatibility mode? Also, if you can’t get it going you can have it installed on the same partition as Windows using mint4win (insert the liveCD while running Windows).

  5. My first guess is that you dont have enough ram. Its rare to find a windows 2000 system that has over 256 ram.
Does the computer have 512ram to install?
Did you check the download with MD5? If you didnt check it, it could have downloaded incorrectly. If your in Australia, I will post out both linux mint universal edition and linux mint main.

Depending on what hardware you have, take a look at XUBUNTU. (not as good as linux mint), but it works wonders on systems that have 128-256ram.

  6. “Accell introduces their USB 2.0 to VGA Adapter at CES – dual monitors even if you don’t have a video card with dual possibility”

Assuming of course that you don’t use Linux. Displaylink doesn’t work on Linux, like most emerging technology.
